So last friday the Q-Wake up crew discussed how some spas on the east coast are starting to provide a carp pedicure!
The client puts their feet in an aquarium-like tub with carp in it and then the carp eat all the callises and dry skin off your feet! Holy shnikes!!! this is craziness!
So when I first heard about this— I was thinking carp like this…..
When I was little and still living in New York State- we would go to this one lake with our boat and camp- and at the marina you could buy a bag of dog food and feed the carp that looked like the ones in the above picture. I took great joy in this activity- cause it was always funny to see their mouths open and close like that one fishing game….
ya that one…but the thing is those fish looked like they could eat my big toe in one bite!!! who the heck would want to stick their feet in that kind of mess???
After some research- turns out these “doctor fish” are like the size of goldfish and couldn’t possibly swallow your big toe whole….
Even so- this still creeps me out. True, I get paranoid whenever I swim in a lake fearing that the fish will nibble on me…but still!!
What about the sanitation factors?? last I recall, fish don’t use toilets….you might as well go to that lake I used to camp at and stick your feet in that water…it’s probably the same.
I also saw an article on msnbc.com stating that the owner of a spa that started these crazy pedicures is thinking about developing a full body fish eating your dead skin bath!!! oh heck no!! Talk about one of my top ten fears just realized!!! eewwww…..
So- to those that think this might be a good idea, you are crazy…
I shall stick to walking on the beach our using a pumice stone thank you!
Alright- I’m done with my creeped out opinion on feet eating fish.

I did this, but when I stuck my feet in there, all the fish died. They wouldn’t give me my money back. I didn’t get any nibbling on my feet at all. This is just a bad idea if you ask me.
